Accomplishments from my 1st term...

Casey's Pond

Council allocated Short Term Rental (STR) funds were the catalyst for the community-wide effort to raise the monies to save Casey's Pond, an integral part of our community’s housing needs.

Repurpose Accommodations Tax to work for our community

Council had overwhelming Community Support to change the accommodations tax from tourism based needs to include Acquisition of Open Space and Maintenance of existing amenities.

Expanded Workforce Housing

  • We adopted an expedited development review process to incentivize workforce and affordable housing;
  • Citizens overwhelming supported the Council initiated Short Term Rental (STR) tax ballot measure to secure long term funding for workforce housing 
  • STR loan secured workforce units at Riverview, and
  • Seasonal employee housing near completion.

Chair of Climate Action Plan Collaborative Board

  • The Climate Action Plan (CAP) was awarded a $265,000 grant to provide the technical support and workforce development to scale up building electrification and the necessary workforce development to meet our emission reduction goals.


  • We secured a $50,000 donation to activate a grant fund for local projects  such as the installation of a local solar array, weatherization of homes which will lower utility bills, transition of stage lights to LEDs and support of RCRs Bike Match program to replace cars with human powered transportation. 

Championed City Sustainability Efforts

  • We protected our snow based economy with the adoption of building codes including prohibiting natural gas powered snowmelt.
  • We adopted a Facilities Master Plan that includes a cost effective approach to greener vehicles, greener buildings and water conservation
  • We implemented incentives for recycling and composting at special events.
  • We initiated the phased installation of a smart irrigation system for City parks to reduce water usage.
  • We were awarded a $5M grant for restoration of  Yampa River/Walton Creek confluence.

Joined Colorado Leaders in Opposing Federal Sale of Our Public Lands

Council joined forces with Routt County Commissioners and Colorado Association of Ski Towns to oppose a provision in the federal Congressional budget Reconciliation Bill allowing potential future sales of public lands.

Free US Post Office Boxes

I partnered with members of the Congressional Delegation along with Shannon Lukens from Steamboat Radio to secure free PO Box and refunds for residents who have no other option of mail delivery.

  • Working collaboratively with my fellow Council members
  • Creating a welcoming environment for citizens to share their concerns and perspectives
  • Facilitating open, transparent decision-making that encourages robust and respectful deliberations.

Recognition

  • I received Recycle Colorado 2023 Recycling and Composting Outstanding Elected Official Award.
  • I was appointed to represent rural communities on the state wide advisory Board for the Extended Producer Recycling Program which will create a state wide recycling infrastructure and recycling at no cost to Colorado residents.
