Meet Gail Garey

Hello!

My husband and I moved to Steamboat Springs 25 years ago. We raised two kids, Noel and Madison Keeffe, here in this community -- a community that values its small-town culture, western heritage and natural assets including the Yampa River, Howelsen Hill and Emerald Mountain. Our children flourished here because of the unique community-mindedness, something that still sets us apart from other ski towns in Colorado and across the West.

I have lived in rural and urban places. I built a professional career as an entrepreneur and worked in corporate America.  I've also been deeply involved in the non profit sector both elsewhere and here in Steamboat.  Notably, I grew up in a small farming community in the middle of Kansas, before living on the East Coast as well as on the Front Range.  My husband and I both worked while raising our family.

As the founder of Impact 360 Strategies, a consulting agency to help companies become Certified B Corporations, my mission is to guide and empower businesses to accelerate environmentally friendly and socially responsible business practices. The results benefit the company’s bottom line and creates positive social change. Prior to consulting, I held numerous positions with a global telecommunications company, including, customer service and marketing operations, and working with governmental entities.

I also have decades of community engagement and public service, volunteering for the schools and Winter Sports Club, and serving as Chair of the Organics Task Force which was instrumental in supporting the efforts to create the community wide composting program provided by Cowgirl Compost. I currently serve as a Board Member of the Yampa Valley Sustainability Council.

In my role on the City Council, I serve as Chair of the Climate Action Plan Collaborative Board. I was also appointed to represent rural communities on the state wide advisory Board for the Extended Producer Recycling Program which will create a state wide recycling infrastructure and bring free recycling to all citizens in Colorado.

My background and lived experience provide a multi-faceted balanced perspective to the Council. I look at issues thru the lens of a mother who raised her family in this community, as a business person and as a steward of our natural environment.

I will continue to be accessible, work collaboratively and transparently to make community-driven decisions that preserve our small town-culture. I believe our Council is stronger when we work together but I am resolute in my beliefs and will continue to speak up while acting in the best interest of all our community members.
